A while back someone posted an ongoing project where they were building one of the Caddigger backhoes for a JD4100. I am interested in building one of these as a useful project and was wondering if anybody else has built one and how it works and has held up after use. Price certainly is attractive but I see that it is 3ph mount only and no subframe mount. They also have a "Super Boom" and "thumb" attachment for the bucket that looks like it would be very handy.

I built a Model 708 that is used on my NH TC29. The project was documented informally in photos (mostly for my own benefit), I've attached the link.
I've gotten a lot of use out of the hoe. I completed it about one year ago, have used it quite a bit, and haven't had any problems with it. Nor have I broken my tractor in two with it - yet.

I bought a new cadplan 608 (digs 5.5ft deep)not sure I have the correct model #. I use it on the back of my 27hp cub. I like it because its light. I use a pto pump for power. There is a person named Lee Allen here in Maine that builds these. Mine sold for under 3 grand, I am a landscaper. Lee advertises in Uncle Henrys which is online, and offers a one month free subscription. ....
